Is it enough to say I'm a Christian, and our lives do not reflect it? Or should we be actually FOLLOWERS of Jesus, living our lives according to the way He commands us to?
In a recent dream, this subject matter was brought up. Highlighting an influential man that many would perceive as a man of God. A man of God whose integrity was about to be compromised behind close doors in this dream before he was rebuked.
This led me to this question:
ARE WE AWARE THERE IS LIFE AFTER DEATH? ETERNAL LIFE? A LIFE THAT WILL NEVER END?
The question many should be asking themselves... "Where will I spend eternity?"
There are ONLY two places we will all go. HEAVEN or HELL. There is no in between. One will become home to us forever.
Revelation 21:8, "But as for the cowardly, the faithless, the detestable, as for murderers, the sexually immoral, sorcerers, idolaters, and all liars, their portion will be in the lake that burns with fire and sulfur, which is the second death.”
John 14:2, Jesus said, "My Father's house (heaven) has many rooms; if that were not so, would I have told you that I am going there to prepare a place for you?
The only way to heaven is through JESUS CHRIST. The JESUS CHRIST of the Bible. The ONE of GRACE and TRUTH. The ONE who is the very essence of LOVE. And with LOVE, there should be a balance of both grace and truth.
The TRUTH is... you can not live a LIFESTYLE of sin and spend eternity in heaven with Jesus.
The TRUTH is... you can profess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and Savior, and attend church every Sunday and still go to hell.
How is this? A LACK OF THE HEALTHY FEAR OF THE LORD.
Proverbs 9:10, “The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom: and the knowledge of the Holy One is understanding.”
Many believe that because Jesus loves us and we believe in Jesus, we are going to heaven. (James 2:19, "You believe that there is one God. You do well. Even the demons believe—and tremble!").
Indeed, He loves us. He proved that on the cross (Hebrews 12:2, "Looking unto Jesus, the author and finisher of our faith, who for the joy that was set before Him endured the cross, despising the shame, and has sat down at the right hand of the throne of God.").
However, if one who has said, "Yes, I am a christian." finds themselves in hell, it will not be because Jesus put them there. They chose hell when they chose to live a life that reflects satan as father, rather than God as Father. Jesus died that we all may spend eternity in heaven, but it is our choice if we choose Him and His way.
Matthew 7:22-23, "Many will say to Me in that day, ‘Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in Your name, cast out demons in Your name, and done many wonders in Your name?’ And then I will declare to them, ‘I never knew you; depart from Me, you who practice lawlessness!"
We all have a responsibility to not only choose Jesus with lip service but choose Him in the way we live our lives out before Him. A life of holiness. I'm not saying we won't make mistakes, because we all do. But with that should come true repentance. This is when we are truly remorseful for our mistakes and are willing to turn from our sins. This is where true transformation should begin.
ALL CHURCHES need some form of discipleship in place to help with the transformation of those within their church organization. It would also be wise to NOT consider putting people in leadership positions based on their gifts alone, but rather seek the face of God for His direction. He knows all and sees all.
Jesus is the God of transformation. He did not die a horrible death to leave us the same. His grace gives us the ability to become more like Him daily, and His mercy keeps us from getting what we all deserve. HELL.
Let us no longer trample over the grace of God, but choose to truly surrender our lives to Him as LORD and Savior.
