Change Within the Inner City Begins in the Home

This morning in prayer the Lord reminded me of this dream I had about a month ago. A young African American man and I was standing in the kitchen of a home in the inner city. There was a table separating us. He stood on one side and I on the other. He said to me, "The reason why we see what we see in this community is because of their parents". I woke up.

The man in the dream as well as myself are both from the inner city. Although what I'm about to say may be a hard pill to swallow for some, but somebody have to be willing to be the voice for a generation crying out with their actions.

It's about time we stop blaming white people, the police, and stop allowing how we were raised to be a blueprint of how we raise our kids. If we want to see true change in the next generation it starts in the home. It's about time we be living examples of what it looks like to be sold out to Jesus. It's about time we build them up and encourage them instead of tearing them down. It's about time we STOP letting our kids live a life as an adult while they're still a kid. It's about time we stop allowing music and the streets to raise our kids. It's time out for allowing them to watch corrupt and perverted things on TV. What you allow into your spirit will eventually come out. Those seeds will bring forth fruit one day. Look around you. Can you see the corruption in the next generation? Look around you. Can you see how most of them lack true identity? This is the manifestation of the seeds that were sown.

It's time we invest in our kids, and that investment starts with love. There is no greater investment than LOVE. I see a generation that's in desperate need for community and love. Love doesn't always feel like love, because telling your kids no may be heartbreaking for them in the moment but telling your kids no can possibly save their life. If the father is not in the home pray the Father sends father figures. Hold Him to His Word. He said He will be a Father to the fatherless.

When you truly love your child, you should want to be a better version of yourself for them. Your life will either lead your kids to Jesus or to satan. There is no in between.

Taking your kids to church is one thing, but actually being the church is another. Church may be a beacon of hope for some, but JESUS is hope for them all. Some will never step foot in a church building, and that's okay because it's about time we take church to them. Most churches in these communities are corrupt and what these kids need is a real encounter with Jesus. The place they need to encounter Jesus first, is in the home.

If I was to do a poll and ask this community if they were Christian, I can almost guarantee that 95% will say they are. If I was to look at the fruit of their lives, the fruit would say the total opposite.

Before we make decisions for our kids, we may want to consider seeking the face of Jesus first. He created them and had better plans for them than we could ever accumulate on our own.
