WARNING: BE LED BY THE SPIRIT OF GOD...

Updated: 3 days ago

"For those who are led by the Spirit of God are the children of God." Romans 8:14

In our last "Hosting God's Presence" gathering the Lord began to highlight some things that needed to be addressed in the spirit realm. As I was about to address those things from knowing how I once addressed those things before, the Lord stopped me in my tracks and said... "THE BLOOD. ADDRESS IT WITH THE BLOOD."

The flow of the Holy Spirit was already at work highlighting the power in the finish work of the cross, and the blood of Jesus. It would be a mistake to step outside of the flow of the Holy Spirit to do things in my own strength based on what I know worked before.

That specific moment became a teachable moment for the ladies. I began to explain how important it is to be led by the Holy Spirit, and not just by head knowledge. How the Lord may have led you to do something one way before, may not be how He chooses to lead you in strategy later.

In 2 Samuel 5:19 the Lord gives David instructions in battle on how to get victory against his enemies. In 2 Samuel 5:22-25 David will later come back before the Lord after his previous battle for strategy on how to regain what was stolen from him by the same enemy. The instructions the Lord gave David the second time was completely different from the strategy He gave him before.

The other day I heard the word PRESUMPTUOUS after speaking with an individual that was thinking about making decisions based on logic thinking.

When doing my research on the word so that I could get a better understanding, I found that presumptuous means OVERLY CONFIDENT, ARROGANT, PROUD, and ACTING WITHOUT DIVINE AUTHORIZATION per Oxford Languages.

It is extremely important we don't allow pride in what we think we know, or doing things in our strength because we feel we can achieve the results we are looking for because it worked before be the reason we do not see the results we want in the natural, the spirit realm, or for any area of our lives for that matter. We should be led by the Holy Spirit. Allowing Him to lead and guide us concerning healing, finances, our businesses, our children, our ministries, our relationships, our marriages, transitions, our sowing, our serving, etc.

"TRUST IN THE LORD with all your HEART, And LEAN NOT ON YOUR OWN UNDERSTANDING; In all your ways acknowledge Him, AND HE SHALL DIRECT YOUR PATHS." Proverbs 3:5-6 (emphasis mines)

We must live a lifestyle of humility with the understanding we need Jesus at every turn, and for each step that leads to the turn. We need the work of the Holy Spirit at work in our lives. We need the counsel of the Holy One (Isaiah 9:6). The One who knows our ending from our beginning (Isaiah 46:10).

Not acknowledging God first can cost you, and after acknowledging Him and still choosing to do things your way can be a detriment to you.

In Numbers 20:8 God tells Moses to speak to a rock to bring forth water for a complaining rebellious generation of people. Instead of Moses taking heed to the instructions of the Lord IN HOW to bring forth water, Moses decided to do it his way by striking the rock out of anger and frustration. Although the water flowed out of the rock for the people, Moses choosing to do it his way cost him dearly.

"But the LORD said to Moses and Aaron, “Because you DID NOT TRUST IN ME ENOUGH TO HONOR ME AS HOLY in the sight of the Israelites, YOU WILL NOT BRING THIS COMMUNITY INTO THE LAND I GIVE THEM.” Numbers 20:12 (emphasis mines)

Moses disobedience because of anger and frustration cost him the promised land. This does not have to be the case for you and I. We must choose a lifestyle of being led by the Spirit of God no matter what our flesh suggests we do. We must seek the Father first for wise counsel, and in return simply hear and obey His instructions without allowing the spiritual warfare we face when choosing to obey to hinder us, intimidate us, or distract us from being led by the Holy Spirit.
